The Terex Materials Processing Division’s Crushing Technology Team are at the forefront of designing the next generation of crushers for the Powerscreen, Finlay, Evoquip and MPS ranges of mobile, wheeled, static and semi static crushers, as well as identifying opportunities to develop and improve existing products. Reporting to the relevant Lead Engineer the role will be responsible for supporting a variety of engineering tasks as follows:
Design is defined as: Designing systems, processes, methodologies as well as component and machine designs to enhance the overall vehicle performance for the customer and environment. Transforming concepts into prototypes for testing, validating and improvement for ultimately volume production. This includes designing to meet costs, timing, and quality requirements.
Each level of Engineer builds on the level below as experience and learning enables more complexity and responsibility within the role.
Work with teams across models to produce fully specified manufacturing package including Engineering BOMs and Drawings.
Support all NPPD teams as required with a range of tasks from detail drawings to the structural analysis and optimisation.
Attend design reviews to present design ideas and to discuss and critique alternative design solutions.
Follow Group standards in the areas of FMEA, DFM, prototype development and field testing
Follow Group engineering standards and associated IT systems, to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
Consider the manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing and suppliers.
Develop expertise across the range of machines to provide support to the manufacturing business.
Conduct / support on-site trials to prove out new concept developments and ensure reliable release to production.
Work with supervision to ensure current products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability.
Drive standardisation of components and subassemblies within the product lines
Support the global after sales teams where technical input is required.
Investigate and address Customer Complaints in a timely manner where identified / allocated by engineering manager.
Monitor and work to deliver agreed business objectives in accordance with the Terex Talent management system.
Any other duties/projects as defined by the ‘Engineer Manager’ / ‘Director of Engineering’ from time to time.
The role will also allow the successful candidate to work across all crusher products from time to time under the direction of the Group Engineering Manager - Crusher Technology.
Qualifications and Experience Levels
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
At least 3 years’ experience in heavy equipment / machinery design
Sound 3D CAD skills (preferably Pro Engineer/CREO)
Working experience with PDM/PLM systems
Metallurgy
Welding
Casting Methods
Hydraulic systems
Mathcad
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
