Main duties and responsibilities:
Support to Teaching Staff
- Preparing Workshops for the day/activity as required, including performing safety checks and shutdowns at either end of the working day.
- Daily assistance to staff as required – as far as possible this should be scheduled & agreed
- Assist boys with technical assistance where appropriate/possible (eg: using specialist tools and equipment)
- Preparation of materials for lessons
- Management of supplies
- Supporting teaching staff through small group and one-to-one work with students.
· To assist in the organization and preparation of displays for Open Mornings and other events that take place outside of regular school hours.
Resource Management
- Referral of ITC, electrical, mechanical breakdown etc., to the appropriate Dept. agreed with the Head of Department.
- Planned, routine and reactive maintenance of the machines in the department.
- Readying equipment and materials for lessons as required by staff
Display
- Preparation of displays
- Assisting with department exhibitions
Workshop Management
- Tidying and sorting at appropriate times. Clearing of surfaces after/before lessons or as required.
Stock Control
- Monitoring use of all stock items
- Ensuring storage areas are well managed, with HOD
- Creating orders using standard system
- Requesting COSHH information from suppliers
- Unpacking and sorting deliveries
- Checking invoices
- Replenishing stocks with HOD
- Replenish paper towels & soap in each studio
- Monitoring of paper stocks in all Studios & the ITC suite & Photocopier
Cleaning & Tidying, Health and Safety
- Help to maintain a clean, tidy and safe environment
- Organizing for removal of any hazardous materials (eg: broken glass)
- Maintaining proper measures of control for COSHH items
- Monitoring and ensuring hardware/equipment is in good safe working order
- Regularly awaiting/reviewing H&S issues with the Head of Department.
Safeguarding responsibilities:
It is the post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact and to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding Policy Statement at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School s/he must report any concerns to the Head Master.

Education:
- GCSE or equivalent (required)
Experience:
- workign within a school in a similar environment: 1 year (preferred)
