We are currently seeking a candidate for the position of Residential Deputy Manager for an EBD children's home. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
Essential Qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
Essential Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children and young people in a residential setting within the last 5 years.
As a deputy manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Ensuring the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the children and young people being looked after. You will collaborate with your team to ensure the optimum delivery of day-to-day care, adhering to statutory and company policies and procedures, and always ensuring that the ethos of the Statement of Purpose is applied. You will work restoratively with the child or young person and maintain the restorative process, involve them in the process, and encourage them to be responsible for their actions.
Your role also involves managing people, including assisting the Registered Manager in the selection, recruitment, and retention of staff, providing leadership and guidance to the team, and promoting personal and professional development through appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilities. You will show concern for staff welfare, offer support at times of stress and illness, and attend to issues of staff motivation and morale.
In addition, you will manage finance, monitoring expenditure, and alerting the Registered Manager in cases of discrepancies or over expenditure. You will ensure that staff understand and operate the petty cash system within the required guidelines. Furthermore, you will manage resources, ensuring that adequate resources are available, maintaining a safe environment that complies with health and safety and other legal requirements, and developing links between the home, community, and the children and young people.
Your personal attributes are critical to success in this role. You must be a positive role model for the children and young people and colleagues, encourage both to develop meaningful relationships and attachments, and always report to a line manager or other appropriate person in the event of awareness of poor practice. You will receive training appropriate to the role and maintain an up-to-date training profile, work flexibly to meet changing business needs, and undertake any other duties as may be necessary.
Terms and Conditions:
- Probationary period of six months.
- Annual leave entitlement of 20 days per year, plus Bank and Public Holidays.
- Hours of work are those required to carry out duties to the satisfaction of the Company, and as necessitated by the needs of the business
