About the facility:
The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new 100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in 2023. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery. The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
Role Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Estates Manager to join our brand new team at The Harborne Hospital. Reporting to the Estates Manager, the post holder will be responsible for providing a safe, compliant and well-maintained environment for all service users, managing a maintenance system of building, plant equipment and facilitating the uninterrupted business of the hospital revenue generating department.
To assist the Estates Manager to develop the philosophy and strategy of the engineering estates department
To respond to unplanned and emergency maintenance requests, prioritising workloads for an efficient and effective service
To develop a planned prevention programme of maintenance
To ensure a fast and effective response to unplanned and emergency maintenance requests
To ensure Statutory and Mandatory requirements are met and relevant guidance notes are followed
To manage a team of engineers, providing 24-hour cover, facilitating excellent teamwork
Risk assessment and management
To liaise with external contractors and monitor work performance
To identify and cost materials
To provide technical guidance and advice to hospital departments / staff
Ensure the appropriate use of resources within agreed budgets
Recruitment and selection of staff and contractors
Ensure that equipment is audited and documented
To advise Estates Manager on deficiencies in system and contribute to strategic planning of replacement / repair
To deputise for the Estates Manager in his absence
Maintain staff record
Involvement in planning and implantation and management of capital project
To hold AP/RP duties and be responsible for the training and appointing of CP's and contractors
To assist the Project Team with capital projects and refurbishment works
Your experience will include but would not be limited to:
Engineering degree desirable
Training in relevant discipline e.g. City & Guilds mechanical / electrical, NVQ
Experience in similar organisation
Membership of professional body i.e. IHEEM
Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures
In depth knowledge of HTM's, HBN's and relevant regulations
Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH
