Job description

IT Services Deputy Director - Service Operations

Job description

Founded by industry and the professions, the University of South Wales, with around 25,000 students is one of Britain’s most exciting new universities and a major player in higher education. The IT Services department is on exciting evolution path to become a well-connected and innovative department, that delivers real business value. The department has adopted a hybrid work environment (home and office) and therefore the requirement to attend campus will be limited.

This role will require the postholder to utilise their strong people skills, be visionary, have an ability to connect with all areas of the business and motivate teams to deliver, sometimes through pressured and challenging times.

The role holder will join us in sharing, supporting, and owning our departmental vision of: Working Together, Enabling Success. The vision reflects our role, our aspirations, and our behaviours in providing a digital service that enables and empowers our staff, our students and our partners, to fulfil their potential and provide an edge to our University. This vision and ambition align with the University’s core values of Inspiring, Responsible, Creative, Collaborative and Professional.

This role will be the lead on IT services for infrastructure and Operations and will advise the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) accordingly. The post holder will also contribute and assist the CIO in developing new business opportunities, continuous development of USW digital strategy and delivery of the digital plan, in line with University objectives, whilst ensuring quality delivery of our services.

This is a full time, permanent position within the IT Services Senior leadership team.

The university is currently operating a hybrid-model of working. However, the successful candidate would be expected to work on campus for part of the week.

If you are a successful candidate and this position will be your first professional services role at the University (or you are currently employed by PSS Ltd), you will be employed by Professional and Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of South Wales, which provides services to the University and Colleges.
