Structure & Position:
The Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC) is the focal point for enterprise and entrepreneurship programmes for students, recent graduates and staff delivered across The University of Manchester through on-curricular teaching and co-curricular activities.
Our mission is to make entrepreneurship education accessible to all, across all subjects and at all levels, developing entrepreneurial capacities and mind-sets in our students, recent graduates and staff. The Centre currently stands at a team of 18 professional staff and academics and is one of the UK's leaders in the area of practitioner-based, applied enterprise education.
Overall Purpose of the Job
- To lead, direct, and manage all operational aspects of MECs co-curricular and start-up activities. Taking line management responsibility for the co-curricular and start-up activities team. Ensure that the MEC co-curricular and start-up activities provide, either directly or through partnership, a comprehensive support infrastructure and programme that facilitates and enables aspiring student and staff entrepreneurs to launch and grow their ventures and demonstrate value in the marketplace.
- As a member of the MEC management team, work alongside the MEC Director, to develop, and then execute, the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre’s strategic plan, including growth targets and funding model. Particularly around co-curricular programmes - to increase the overall incidence and quality of commercial and social led outputs. Linking with the core value of ‘Innovation’ in ‘Our Future’ and with ID Manchester – developing talent and start-ups at scale to create a ready pipeline of opportunity.
- Establish the co-curricular and start-up activities as a strategic, well regarded and high profile activity across all faculties, contributing to positive news flow for AMBS and the University across the campus and externally; and generating enhanced impact for AMBS and the University.
- Work alongside strategic groups across the University’s campus-wide innovation ecosystem, and externally, to build sustainable programmes and associated resources that support and grow the enterprise and entrepreneurship agenda across the University.
- Support the MEC Director in the University-wide promotion of on-curricular teaching and support the strategic direction of innovative teaching delivery within the Centre.
- Deputise for the MEC Director when required and represent the Centre on relevant internal committees and working groups as well as external groups where required.
