Border Force is a Law Enforcement arm of the Home Office. We are responsible for handling the UK border control by implementing immigration and customs regulations and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking.You will join a team of five Deputy Directors (DD) leading the North region and report to the Regional Director. You will be part of the Border Force North regional leadership team.The Deputy Director has operational responsibility for Manchester airport, the third largest airport in the UK, with responsibility for circa 400 employees. Manchester Airport operates 24/7 365 days a year.We are looking for a pro-active, confident individual who has a strong leadership background in operational delivery, leading large high performing teams. You will need Change management experience, HR management experience and be comfortable challenging behaviours and culture, to improve performance.You will be leading a 24/7 business across Manchester Airport which operates three Terminals. You will therefore need to provide visible operational leadership and be flexible in responding to live critical incidents and taking on tasks as and when they arise.Essential CriteriaLeadership experience of high performing teams delivering across a range of locations, operationally or corporately. Taking ownership and commitment to lead at pace in a live 24/7 operational environment responding to emerging pressures and incidents.Able to manage own and team’s workloads, working to tight timescales assessing demands and managing competing priorities, whilst meeting agreed deadlines. Ability to use an evidence-based approach to assess risks and to make decisions in a timely manner.Experience in an operational environment including operational planning and responding to regional and national incidents, pressures and priorities. Ability to think and look beyond own remit and contribute to wider business pressures adopting an outward facing approach.Experience of delivering change and transformation leading teams through change, particularly around changing behaviours.
