What you’ll do
Working at Barry Depot, you will be responsible for ensuring that our high customer service & operational standards are consistently met.
The Depot Supervisor is responsible for the safe control of all train movements within the depot confines, as well as all train services to and from the main line whilst supervising and organising the safe running and operation of trains at the depot.
Role responsibilities
  • Responsible for all train movements within the depot confines, as well as all train services to and from the main line
  • Responsible for the depot facility and people’s safety whilst on duty
  • Relaying train information and liaising with TFW Control to prepare communication relating to train service arrivals & departures
  • Notifying TFW Control of any disruption to service, including degraded or emergency situations
  • Maintaining depot protection systems and associated safe procedures
  • Relaying the relevant train information to Drivers, Technicians and Train Presentation Staff
  • Maintaining a safe environment at all times

What else you'll need to know
We’re here for our customers, whenever they need to travel which means your shift lengths and patterns will vary – so you’ll need to be flexible in your working hours.
  • Working 4 days per week with an average of 35 hours per week
  • Your shift pattern will include a 3-shift rotation to provide 24/7 roster cover
  • Working weekends & Bank Holidays
  • There is also a service requirement for rostered Sunday working, that will form part of the agreed roster
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would be advantageous to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
Transport for Wales Rail Limited supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support staff who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
