Job description
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic person to support our Wessex (South) Operations Manager and the Operations department contributing to our work to protect communities from flooding in Wessex.
Our work is varied; no two days are the same. You’ll need to be well organised, able to work flexibly, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be thorough with good attention to detail, and the ability to manage your own workloads to prioritise competing demands.
You will carry out a range of duties including organising internal and external meetings, prepare and manage correspondence and documents, maintain calendars, minute taking of meetings and be a point of contact for our teams and customers. As you grow in confidence, we’ll support your ambitions too – and help you use the experience as a springboard for your career, including apprenticeship opportunities.
The role is flexible and can be offered as a part or full-time opportunity to fit around you. While some time working in one of our office’s will be required, we offer a hybrid working environment. You will be supported in gaining on-site experience with our Asset Performance and Field Teams.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team
The successful candidate will join our Operations Department, providing administrative support to our Operations Manager and the team. At the forefront of protecting local communities from flooding, we ensure our assets work and we operate them during flood incidents. We are a friendly team who are all dedicated to protecting local communities and the environment.

Experience/skills required

- Excellent diary management and organisational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information in a clear, comprehensible style and format.

- Good customer focus with the ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and partners.
- Experience of using Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to take minutes at internal and external meetings.
