Job Description


Primary role purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Inmarsat PMO, the role of a Manager, Resource and Demand Management is to optimise the allocation of resources and effectively manage demand across CDS, CTO and BU’s. This role encompasses various responsibilities related to resource planning, capacity management, and demand forecasting.

The primary role purpose is to ensure that resources are effectively allocated, demand is managed efficiently, and capacity is optimised to achieve operational excellence and drive successful project delivery. By maintaining a balance between resource availability and demand, they contribute to Inmarsat’s growth, profitability, and sustainable success.


Qualifications


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the resource requirements of different projects, departments, or teams across CDS, CTO and BU’s.
  • Collaborate with Resource Leads, Project Managers and Stakeholders to determine the availability and skill sets of resources.
  • Proactively engage with BU’s & central functions to understand roadmaps and emerging initiatives, providing a forward plan of work demand.
  • Participate in the performance of the project resource impact assessment (RIA) as part of the Front Door process.
  • Monitor the capacity and workload of resources across CDS, CTO and BU’s.
  • Analyse resource utilisation, identify bottlenecks or areas of underutilisation and work with Resource Leads to optimise capacity and improve overall productivity.
  • Analyse historical data in Tempus and inputs from various stakeholders, and develop accurate demand forecasts for resources.
  • Collaborate with different departments or teams to understand their demands and requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Product Managers, and Business Area Leads across CDS, CTO and BU’s to balance workloads and ensure that resources are allocated appropriately to meet business objectives.
  • Analyse resource utilisation data, identify resource bottlenecks and recommend improvements to enhance resource productivity and improve overall operational effectiveness.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders, such as project managers, department heads, and senior leadership, to understand their resource requirements, and provide regular updates on resource utilisation and capacity through resource management reports and dashboards.
  • Lead monthly resource reviews for each business area and provide an overall Demand Management Analysis Report to the VP, P3M and Head of Inmarsat PMO.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • A BSc degree or Masters in a relevant technical (e.g. Telecommunications, Engineering) or and managerial field
  • Ability to manage key stakeholders and drive consensus in an effective and persuasive manner
  • Knowledge of demand planning and forecasting
  • A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving with the ability to work effectively under pressure

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas and defend decisions
  • Strong knowledge of resource management and business analytics tools
