JOB TITLE: Delivery Van Driver Assistant
BASE: Old Swan, Liverpool
SALARY: £11.03 per hour - 30 hours p/w over 4 days
REPORTING TO: Shop Manager/Retail Manager
CLOSING DATE: Friday 28th April 2023

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is the busiest children’s hospital in the UK caring for over 330,000 young patients every year. Alder Hey is a Centre of Excellence for children with cancer, heart, spinal and brain disease and a National Centre for head and facial surgery, we are one of only four centres nationally to provide epilepsy surgery and one of two accredited major trauma units for children in the North West.
Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises funds to support the pioneering work at our brand new hospital, Alder Hey in the Park, and aims to improve the quality of life for not only the young people we see each year, but through innovations and research into childhood diseases, the quality of life for children across the world.
Overall purpose of the role:
We are looking for a Delivery Van Driver to join our successful team to deliver and collect furniture and other donations for our charity shops in Old Swan and Huyton.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced driver looking for part time work as part of a busy, dynamic Charity team.
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Support the van driver with booking in deliveries and collections
· Support the van driver with planning routes for deliveries and collections
· Assist with loading and unloading the delivery van
· Drive Luton van to deliver and collect furniture donations in the local community
· Ensure any collected donations are fit for sale and have required safety labels
· Ensure as many collected donations as possible are Gift Aided
PERSON SPECIFICATION
· Full clean driving licence
· 5+ years driving experience
· Physically fit - able to lift, with assistance, large items of furniture
· Good communication and customer care service skills.
· The ability to work within a team and with the local community.
· A ‘can-do’ attitude.
Training
Relevant in-house training will be given
Hours
9:00am –5.00pm Monday to Friday (4 days tbc)

- Light Commercial Vehicle & Delivery Drivers: 1 year (preferred)
