Do you want to work for one of the UK's leading Water Companies and make a difference? We have a fantastic opportunity for Delivery Managers to join the Better Rivers programme at United Utilities.
This is a great opportunity to play a major part in improving our rivers, helping to create a greener future for our region.
From day one you'll be responsible for key elements of the programme and delivering against its targets. You'll establish and lead relevant project teams, ensuring that the projects are delivered to the required outcomes (health and safety, time, cost and quality).
You will get the opportunity to work closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external, in particular Ofwat, Environment Agency and a range of NGOs such as the Rivers Trust and manage both internal teams and external contractors to ensure successful delivery of key targets.
Job Accountabilities

Develop, promote and maintain a safety culture to deliver excellent Health and Safety performance.
- Produce and manage a project management plan for each project
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver investment programmes of approx. £50m
- Lead and mentor a team of project professionals ensuring delivery to TCQi
- Establish and lead a direct project team and indirectly secure contributions and cooperation from other stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure projects are designed and delivered in a safe manner whilst maximising efficiencies and achieving business objectives
- Develop strong relationships with the leadership team to ensure the service being offered meets the operation and maintenance requirements.
- Manage risks and changes and escalate Issues affecting programme / project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate governance.
- Manage the relationship with the Supply Chain to successfully deliver projects.
- Manage and deliver reporting of progress against the overall programme
- Work with key internal teams such as Environmental Planning and Innovation and Corporate Affairs to ensure appropriate interaction with a number of stakeholders, including NGOs, local councils, regulators and other third parties
- Work with internal Senior stakeholders and teams to ensure they are aware of and aligned to programme requirements and, simultaneously, ensure that the programme isproviding sufficient support for business areas to achieve their deliverables
- Ensure statutory approvals are being obtained.
Knowledge and Skills
We are looking for someone who is qualified to ChPP or equivalent and NEC3/4 qualified or working towards, as well as:
- Be educated to degree level or have equivalent industry experience
- Evidence thinking cross-functionally
- Demonstrate expertise of delivering complex programmes to challenging timelines, balancing conflicting project priorities to ensure the successful delivery of agreedprogramme benefits.
- Ability to harness the full commitment and responsibility of all key stakeholders in delivering the scheme.
- Ability to turn strategic ideas and objectives into practical, well organised plans with a focus on results, standards and objectives on time to quality, within budget and to reprioritise, plan and organise own and others' work effectively to ensure these are met.
- Be an experienced leader with strong interpersonal and negotiating skills, with a proven ability in managing relationships at all levels of seniority through effectivecommunication.
- Highly developed influencing skills combined with the ability to manage a diverse customer base and the confidence to constructively challenge actions/decisions.
- Have excellent financial planning / management skills to develop short, medium and long term plans with an ability to budget proactively with large, high-risk or volatileelements being identified and cross-referenced to project activity.
