Located on Britain’s Energy Coast we employ over 200 people and operate from one of the largest and most comprehensively equipped workshops in the UK. With our years of engineering and manufacturing experience we guarantee to deliver exacting standards of quality and excellent levels of service.
We offer Fabrication, Machining, Fitting, Assembly and Testing facilities, with a floor capacity of 19,200m2, two 5 metre deep manufacturing pits and a lifting capacity of 130 tonnes.
The purpose of this role is to lead and develop a team comprising of team leaders and craft resources to safely and efficiently manufacture items and equipment to time, cost & quality.
Due to our projects all employees must be British National.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure a high discipline standard is maintained throughout the department, by ensuing that effective time keeping and attendance is maintained, policy processes and business standards are followed and that accountability of all team members are known.
- Provide safety leadership and ensure that all manufacturing is delivered without harm to those involved and minimising impact on the environment.
- Reporting and investigating accidents, incidents and near misses in line with Company processes.
- Delivery of defined aspects of the Safety Improvement Plan on behalf of the Operations Director & TSP Board.
- Timely close-out of E, H,S&Q actions.
- Maintain and develop a skilled workforce which is multi-skilled, flexible and movable in line with the requirements of delivering the Forward Load.
- Through strong leadership, setting and upholding high standards in relation to: Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental Management, Human Resource Processes and Procedures, Company Image and Reputation.
- Leading the Manufacturing Teams to ensure high standards of cost effective work are delivered to Time, Cost and Quality as defined in the budget and work specifications.
- Planning and reporting of manufacturing activities including progress against plan, hours against budget and key issues, risks, and quality non-conformances.
- Identifying and reporting quality issues and monitoring close-out of actions using the blue envelope process to engage awareness and corrective action in a speedy manner.
- Delivering agreed aspects of the Manufacturing Improvement Plan.
- Identifying and reporting Asset Management/Maintenance issues and monitoring close-out of actions and repairs.
- Develop the manufacturing skills to meet the needs of the business through mentoring, developing & assessing employees within the department.
- Internal & External Customer interface.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Relevant Time Served Qualification – Essential
Working Knowledge of manufacturing processes in fabrication – Essential
Knowledge of quality assurance requirements and procedures. - Essential
Knowledge of Safe Management of Manufacturing Operations (safe systems of work, reporting, emergency arrangements, safety audits & intranet)
Risk Assessment – Essential
Manage teams and resources – Desirable.
