Job Introduction
Role Overview
The Services and Infrastructure function (UKTO) is responsible for supporting the UK District Network of Branches, our Functional Departments, and our end user consumers, through the effective delivery of Technology services and infrastructure solutions. To enable the Bank to modernise its core technology, the role will be key in providing delivery support on the transformation to cloud-based infrastructure/services, and our move to a DevOps culture, methods and tooling.
The department, which sits within the UK Bank’s Technology department, is looking for a highly experienced Head of Delivery who has a recent background of working in complex Public Cloud and DevOps environments and is comfortable with traditional Project Management methods, as well as working with teams employing agile methodologies. As the Bank embarks on its agile transformation, in order to achieve even better collaboration and continuous delivery for maximum customer value, it will be essential for the successful candidate to have proven technical delivery experience in a complex Change environment, managing collaboration and work streams between multiple local teams, teams in other areas of a large organisation, and external suppliers.
The role will also be responsible for a team of Delivery and Project Managers working within the UKTO set of responsibilities, covering IT Operations, IT Continuity and Resilience, technical services provided via our intra group agreement with Svenska Handelsbanken AB, as well as the Cloud and DevOps initiatives.
The UK Bank has a vast portfolio of change initiatives between now and 2023 onwards, many of which are regulatory and some which will enable the UK Bank to grow from strength to strength both in its technology capabilities and product offerings. There are a number of priorities which need to be addressed, so the successful candidate must therefore be experienced enough, and flexible, to manage and deliver a variety of change initiatives depending on the priority of the work. To that end, in addition to having an IT background, experience of managing regulatory projects within the Banking industry (or similar e.g. Government) is essential.
