About the role
As a Technology Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for delivering projects and/or products within agreed timescales, to cost and quality standards. Depending on the project/product, you may be responsible for two to three smaller delivery teams, or alternatively a single delivery team to deliver a more complex/technical project/product.
You will manage relationships with customer contacts and senior stakeholders, understanding the N&I strategic direction in order to deliver value against the strategy and against customer requirements. You will be expected to work with flexibility, selecting and applying appropriate delivery techniques as required, based on your delivery experience. You will be responsible for getting the best out of the team, providing support and protecting them from external influences that may affect successful delivery.

You will work with partners and colleagues in Home Office Commercial when contracts need organising and negotiating. You will be required to facilitate governance meetings and mechanisms and/or select the right people to join these discussions. As part of the DDaT community, you will contribute to communities of practice to absorb and share knowledge and help to set good practice and standards.
Your main day to day responsibilities will be
- Translating elements of the strategic roadmap and customer requirements into achievable delivery plans, considering the people and skills required and predicting milestones based on forecasts where possible
- Delivering in line with your team’s capacity and availability, developing an understanding of the relevant frameworks to leverage supplier needs when necessary, and budgeting effectively for resourcing requirements
- Actively managing risks, issues, and dependencies for your delivery team, acting on delivery data and adapting ways of working to mitigate risks
- Forming partnerships and developing communication approaches so you can effectively engage with and influence relevant stakeholders, translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Monitoring trends in team performance and effectiveness, and engaging and motivating the team as required
- Using feedback loops, data analysis, and small experiments to iteratively improve the product, service, and ways of working within the delivery team
You will also be expected to carry out the following day to day activities:
making conscious trade-offs that balance speed, scope and quality across all dimensions of delivery
- Taking the lead on the day to day ways of working in order to bring out the best in the team, facilitating appropriate team ceremonies where necessary
- Providing support and guidance to Associate Technology Delivery Managers and wider team members, in line with individuals’ needs, with the aim of making the team as successful as possible.

Essential Skills
You’ll have a demonstrable passion for delivery with the following skills or strong
experience in:
- Creating and maintaining a plan that highlights forecasts/estimates and confidence levels
- Using experience of technology delivery and technical practices to help translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Using people management skills to set individuals up for success and help create an effective team environment
- Using metrics and previous experience to identify, understand and improve delivery performance challenges
- Adapting approaches to different phases of the delivery lifecycle
- Managing budgets and commercial supplier relationships when necessary

Selection process details
As part of the application process, you will be asked to complete a CV and a Suitability Statement (Max 750 Word Limit). Further details around what this will entail are listed on the application form.
The Statement of Suitability should explain your motivation for applying to this role and offer evidence how you meet the essential criteria listed on the Job Specification.
The sift will be based on the CV and Suitability Statement.
If you are successful at this stage, you will be invited to interview which will be a blended approach consisting of SFIA skills and Behaviours.
At interview candidates will be required to deliver a brief presentation. You will have the opportunity to prepare prior to interview. Further details will be provided closer to the scheduled interviews.

Hybrid Working
This role can be based in any of the advertised locations/regions, with an occasional travel required.
