Job description

We have an opening at George Barclay – England, a luxurious dog bedding and accessories company based in West Grinstead, Salisbury.

Our products are sold nationwide through our network of regional & independent retailers. The role will be carrying out deliveries to our retailers on a pre-planned route, with 4 to 8 drops per delivery day.

A Delivery Driver will always look to maintain good customer relations, with a helpful manor, reporting customer feedback about goods or services supplied by the company. In addition to performing deliveries the successful candidate will be expected to clean vehicles and perform general warehouse duties, such as stock replenishment and assisting the packing team.

Hours: A 40hr week Monday-Friday, consisting of delivery days and warehouse-based days. A typical delivery day will be between 6-12hrs, days in excess of 8hrs will receive enhanced pay for the additional hours worked.

A typical working week will include:

  • 2-3 pre-planned delivery days
  • Non delivery days will be spent carrying out warehouse & packing duties at our facility in West Grimstead, Salisbury
  • Driving the delivery vehicle (Luton LoLoader Van 3.5T) in a careful and courteous manner with due regard to the Road Traffic Act
  • Reporting feedback from store managers/owners
  • Loading and unloading the vehicle
  • Cleaning & pre-driving vehicle checks
  • Stock replenishment
  • Assisting our packing team
  • Warehouse maintenance & tidying

The successful candidate should have/be:

  • A clean driving licence (no more than 3 points)
  • Commercial driving experience
  • Customer service orientated
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Have a good level of general fitness
  • Be self-motivated, reliable and punctual
  • Good accuracy and numerical skills
  • Communicate well with colleagues
  • A forklift licence would be an advantage
