Title: Delivery Assistant
Reports to: Branch Manager
Location: 370 Green Road, Stoney Creek
Position Summary:
Delivery Assistants are responsible for the customer service experience for contractors, builders, and customers when delivering products. Delivery Assistants, help warehouse personnel load the trucks with the correct product. Delivery assistants ensure delivery accuracy and unload the product in a neat and proficient manner during deliveries. Delivery Assistants adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines to ensure the safety of themselves and everyone around them when delivering products.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet and advise customers by providing useful knowledge of products and services; utilize resources where requires.
- Processes customer orders by locating and loading products into customer and company vehicles as needed, exercising proper load building, securing, and unloading techniques.
- Follow Turkstra’s approach to World Class Customer Service.
- Seeks to earn 100% of the customer’s business (100% wallet share).
- Accurately and quickly process returns on-site with full product codes and return material to the branch. – Level 2
- Use people skills to effectively manage difficult customers, problems, and complaints. – Level 4
Daily Operations:
- Loads the truck with the correct product prior to deliveries and ensures accuracy.
- Carries the product to the correct location and stacks the products in a neat and proficient manner during deliveries.
- Ensure machinery maintenance by completing daily checks.
- Responsible for maintaining branch appearance according to branch standards guidelines.
- Assists in the Lawson, Stoney Creek, and Purchasing Yard/Warehouse as needed.
- Safely and effectively operates a forklift and/or Skidsteer (if applicable). – Level 2
- Able to perform simple to complex cutting orders accurately. – Level 2
- Contributes to Inventory Management through cycle counts, stock adjustments, and reporting product shortfalls.- Level 2
- Door Shop – Ability to run the Door Machine. – Level 4
- Follow proper procedure to open and close the yard. – Level 4
Business Objectives:
- Maintains accurate inventory and prevents product loss.
- Supports continuous improvement.
- Works together with the branch team to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
Training and Development:
- Attends Turkstra University classes and retains knowledge.
- Assists in the training and support of coworkers (when and where appropriate).
- Obtain a forklift certificate and/or Skidsteer certificate (if applicable). – Level 2
G Driver (Premium):
- Ensures error-free delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for fleet maintenance (Circle Checks, fueling, and WET service).
- Practice proper load safety and securement (banding, strapping, weight, and placement).
- Demonstrates efficient route planning.
- Demonstrates proper unloading procedures.
- Understands Highway Traffic Act and follows procedures on scales and truck routes.
- Follows accident procedures (communication and documentation).
- Maintains appropriate logs for mileage, fuel consumption, and road hours.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for any and all other duties as may be required from time to time in accordance with proper training and certification requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements:
- General interest in the construction industry.
- Experience or knowledge of related products and services.
- Vocational training is an asset.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
- Load building, securing, and dumping experience is an asset.
Abilities/Skill Requirements:
- Customer-focused.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Product Knowledge.
- Detailed oriented.
- General math skills.
- Ability to work in a fast pace work environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Minimum lift requirement of 66 lbs.
- Required to lift heavy material/objects.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
