Position:

• Delivery Driver – General (“G” Class License) – Full time

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Operate delivery vehicle in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage and loss of life
  • Follow all MTO regulations and safety standards
  • Complete logs and reports using a ELD program
  • Adhere to Staalduinen policies and procedures
  • Deliver a wide variety of floral products to different addresses
    • Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate delivery vehicle
    • Follow route and time schedule
    • Collect payments
    • Complete reports
  
  

Knowledge & Skills

The Delivery Driver is required to have, as a minimum, a valid G Class driver’s license (or better) and a clean abstract with a minimum of one current year commercial truck driving experience.

The applicant must have proficient knowledge & skills in the following areas:

• Knowledge of truck and equipment safety
• Knowledge of MTO log rules & regulations and ELD experience preferred. (Training provided)
• Proven experience as a delivery driver
• Must have a minimum of 1 full year of continuous commercial truck driving experience driving as a G Class

(5-ton truck driving experience considered and asset)

• Customer service experience preferred
• Speaking, reading and writing proficiency in English

Working Conditions

• The Delivery Driver has a physically strenuous and demanding job.
• He/she will be:
  • Climbing in and out of vehicle’s cargo box and cab.
  • Be comfortable in driving on all major highways and in all weather conditions
  • Lifting of boxes up to 60lbs
  • Lifting rear roll up door on Truck.
  • Climbing stairs
  • Operating and manoeuvring a pallet truck
  • Moving floral carts (both full and empty) on and off the truck

Hours

• Hours vary based on the number of stops, current route and distance travelled. (32-40 hrs wkly)
• Due to the nature of the floral industry, longer hours will be required around floral holidays

Compensation:

• Delivery Drivers are paid hourly with a half hour unpaid lunch break.
• Hourly rate is based on experience and license rating.
• Benefits available to full-time employees after successful completion of three-month probationary period

Other notes:

• Clean Driver’s Abstract must be provided at the interview for insurance purposes
• Full training will be provided regarding the skills that are required to do the job.
• Must have own transportation – we are not on a bus route.
