Are you passionate about ensuring UK’s Defence Test, Trials, Training and Equipment Evaluation (T3E) capability is ready and prepared for the immediate demands? Are you a Systems Engineer, or Technical Leader with robust engineering delivery background?
We are looking for engineers to join our team delivering end-end engineering infrastructure upgrade programmes affecting MOD’s T3E Capability. You will be hands on, and experienced in delivering project / systems engineering artefacts such as Requirements, Solution Definitions, Statements of Work, Verification plans, Acceptance criteria, Transition to Service, System Certification and Technical Files.
What roles are available?
Many roles are available at Senior Engineer level - this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in multi-stakeholder, capability development and build your personal leadership, technical delivery and commercial skill sets. You will devise and lead technical solutions that draw on multiple engineering disciplines and business functions (eg operations, procurement, IT, group property) with support of experienced leaders and project managers.
There are also roles at Principal and Senior Principal level, due to complexity and or value of systems and the need for broader oversight, mentoring and coaching of others and strategic input to direction and prioritisation. Principals and Senior Principals will work directly with the Chief Engineer.
Where are the T3E Ranges?
Our ranges are across the UK. QinetiQ, through a Long Term Partnering Agreement support MOD in ensuring the underpinning capability is in place at multiple sites across UK. People often work remotely, meeting at QinetiQ office locations for exchange, status reporting and team building, and travelling to range locations sufficiently to ensure full understanding of the User / Customer need, the local infrastructure, ways of working and importantly, to ensure system integration, acceptance and transition to service is smooth.
What interests or experience do I need?
You will have an interest, background or ability to apply your skills to least one of the following
Digital / IT including networks and interfaces to Comms, Datalink and safety critical systems
Whole range, Land / Sea / Air Area Surveillance systems (eg radar, video, noise)
Data analysis, storage, distribution and information display
Remote Control, Instrumentation and sensor fusion systems
Electromagnetic susceptibility/signature systems
Environmental Test – climatic, vibration, noise - of whole platform / systems
Bespoke equipment development & platform modifications
Ordnance Munitions & Explosives, including weapon handling, performance validation, dissection, demilitarisation
Management of hazardous environments - security and safety system controls
Whole facility development; integration of equipment and capability into working areas
Above all, you aspire to work at a technical system level, with your eye on the overall outcome, working with subject matter experts, with end user requirements top of mind, and delivering within the commercial constraints in conjunction with project manager.
