Morrison Water Services are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice quantity Surveyor to work on our Caledonia Water Alliance contract.

As an apprentice Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of our pro-active commercial team. Who will be responsible for assisting the delivery teams and working with various clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing commercial team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice Quantity Surveyor to join our high performing commercial team. This is a great opportunity if you are interested in the commercial side of the utilities industry. To develop knowledge, skills and experience whilst studying a relevant qualification and receiving guidance from a qualified surveyor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the commercial function of the contract
  • Implementation of company commercial practices
  • Understand the basic commercial principles
  • Assist with the management and reporting of monthly costs
  • Assist with the preparation and management of simple subcontracts
  • Preparation and filing of records
  • Assist with preparation of interim applications and final accounts
  • Assist with valuing and pricing variations
  • Communicating clearly and confidently to a professional standard
  • Raising instructions to subcontractors.
  • Closing out jobs commercially
  • Significant administrative responsibilities

Skills, Experience and Knowledge Requirements

  • Proactive

  • Capable of working on own initiative and just as importantly supporting the wider team
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and work with staff at all levels?
  • Ability to learn and master client specific software
  • Able to deal with large amounts of data accurately and efficiently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Keen to develop in a utility commercial role

Apprenticeship Training Provider:

Morrison Water Services work with trusted and approved training providers for our apprenticeship delivery.

Successful candidates will be required to make an application to our preferred provider for the apprenticeship route chosen.

Entry Grade Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 Highers with at least two Highers at grade B
  • National 5 English and Mathematics are essential at Higher English and Mathematics
  • Foundational apprenticeships in combination with SQA Highers
