Within CDU we have various grades of staff to allow for progression within the Department. We have 46 Decontamination technicians over various shifts with a 1 in 5 weekend rota. We have 4 Technician Supervisors and 4 Team Leaders during the week and one weekend Team Leader.
Duties include reprocessing surgical instrumentation to be used in a clinical setting.
Flexible approach to work, work well under pressure and possess excellent communication and organisational skills.
Main duties include washing the instruments, packing instruments and sterilising them. You will then dispatch them onto trollies to be taken to the various theatres for use.
Work is repetitive and will involve manual handling of loads and you will be required to be on your feet for the duration of your shift.
The successful candidate will be fully trained whilst working within all areas of the department, the dirty area where instruments are cleaned, the clean room where they are packed ready for sterilising and then the autoclave area where all the instruments are sterilised. They then go through to dispatch. This is a varied role once fully trained.
