Job Summary
Provides leadership and coordination of the fiscal management functions for the College of Liberal Arts. Provides oversight in the budgetary responsibilities for the department accounts and budgets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares the budget for, and oversees, all cost centers maintained in the Dean’s office as well as coordinate and supervise departmental and center budgets.
- Ensures that financial and payroll information is accurate and reliable for each department and center and that each department and center perform monthly reconciliations, comply with applicable laws, regulations and follow University policies and procedures.
- Assist departments and centers with any budgetary, payroll, and account related inquiries and concerns.
- Coordinate, oversee, and provide direction to the shared services operation in the Dean’s office.
- Assist College’s ARP Director with all matters related to finance, budget, and operations of the College.
- Oversees Academic Partnership schedule, assignments, and funding.
- Oversees and maintains financial records for the McDowell Center for Global Studies.
- Assists Assistant Dean with all matters related to the GTA program.
- Reviews and ensures budget is available for all College staff and faculty appointments.
- Researches, collects data, and prepares reports as needed for the Dean.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related business field.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible budget and financial analysis experience.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Demonstrated exceptional analytical skills that allow for interpretation of budgetary, financial and related organizational performance or management information
- Demonstrated skills in quantitative financial and budget analyses, including the development of financial models used to forecast financial results under different scenarios
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles and practices with an emphasis on university financial accounting
- Strong presentation and MS Excel skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
- Exercises initiative and judgment in analyzing department and center budget information and variance analysis
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage due dates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- Experience in higher education.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible budget and financial analysis experience.
