Job description
Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) are looking for a Security Operations Manager to join their team working across their Defence Munitions (DM) sites.
As a Security Operations Manager, you will ensure the correct security posture across complex sites, teams, facilities and estates, and maintain operational preparedness for security incidents and events.
You will have leadership experience in a physical security operations environment, dealing with security and resilience, risk management, assurance and governance and implementing proportional and practical advice to relevant stakeholders, including development of new security policies and procedures.

Please note the role requires regular travel to visit DM sites across the UK, and the successful candidate will be expected to attend their chosen site on average 3 times per week.
Due to the nature of the post, the position is reserved for sole UK Nationals.
Responsibilities
- Manage security risks by overseeing Physical Security operations and the deployment of security measures to effectively protect assets, (information, people, buildings and equipment) throughout the estate.
- Plan, test, and respond to security/emergency incidents.
- Conduct assurance of all risks pertaining to site/facility/estate security, providing evidence-based risk mitigations to decision-makers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulation and legislation, providing site/facility/estate level guidance on the implementation of these through site security instructions or orders.
- Assure the implementation of effective security governance, guidance, education and training for all staff across the site/facility/estate.
- Maintaining effective strategic relationships with service providers, MOD Police and MOD Guard Service.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Previous experience of working within Security Operations.
- Experience in a leadership role and delivering effective outcomes.
- Demonstrable experience managing risk and security governance.
- Demonstrable experience managing stakeholder relationships and influencing decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communications.
- Establishment Security Officer course: to hold or attain in the 1st 6 months of employment
- Hold a valid Driving license in order to travel to sites across the UK
Desirable
- Security Management.
- National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) Foundation and Operational Requirements.
- Experience of working within an Explosives Environment.
