Job description
Are you passionate about becoming a Project Manager? Are you looking to progress your career whilst supporting our UK’s armed forces? We may have the perfect opportunity for you! Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) and the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) are expanding our Project Management teams and you could be the person we are looking for.
The role will be to deliver small projects, or elements of larger projects using recognised project management principles, tools and techniques. You will also be responsible for the development of business cases and project management plans, or for providing project support in the development of these documents for larger projects.

What do Project Managers do in DE&S/SDA?
Project Managers are accountable leaders for making sure a project is delivered on time, on budget and within scope. Project Managers within DE&S/SDA are key to successful and timely delivery of safe and effective equipment to Front Line Commands and their service personnel. Every day we play a functional part of making this happen, and that is ultimately what is important.

We operate a hybrid working environment. It is expected that you will attend the site approximately three days per week. However, this cannot be guaranteed as some roles may require a greater attendance to site. Initially you will be expected to the attend more frequently to familiarise yourself with the specific site, the team and the product you will be working on in more detail.
Due to the secure nature of positions, some posts will be reserved for sole UK nationals only.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop, maintain and control all relevant project documentation from project plans, project schedules, status reports and risk registers to deliver specific project outputs within an established baseline.
- Measure progress via monthly reporting, explaining variances and taking corrective action
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary functions in managing an aspect of projects demonstrating ability to lead as future managers
- Analyse requirements, risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities
- Build relationships, influence stakeholders and manage expectations
- Maintain outputs in ambiguous and uncertain environments
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Previous project management experience to contribute to successful project delivery
- Experience of gathering data, analysing and validating information to influence and inform decisions
- Experience of engaging with stakeholders
- Previous experience of risk management to deliver small projects or support development for larger projects
- Contributing to project improvements or change
