PRENTON PREPARATORY SCHOOL

Role Overview

The Nursery Manager is responsible for establishing and leading a new 50-week nursery provision at Prenton Prep., ensuring that it is of the highest quality and that it is delivered in accordance with all relevant legislation and requirements. The role must deliver a safe, stimulating and caring child-centred environment catering for the children’s educational and developmental needs.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

· Overall day to day management responsibility for the nursery ensuring it is run efficiently and that it delivers an exemplary service

· Ensure that the nursery provides a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, allowing for all children to make individualised progress

· Lead weekly Nursery Team Planning Meetings with the Headteacher and Nursery teaching staff

· Recruit, lead and motivate nursery staff, acting as a positive role model and driving high levels of performance

· Meet regularly with the Headteacher and report on all day to day matters regarding the Nursery

· Agree budget with the Headteacher and be responsible for managing it, as well as identifying and prioritising the need for new resources for the Nursery Classes

· Ensure that all agreed quality and safety standards are maintained in the nursery at all times

Curriculum

· Possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum and Teaching Standards, keeping up-to-date with research and developments in Early Years provision

· Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning.

· To promote high standards of behaviour and discipline among the pupils

· Plan, prepare and deliver high quality, differentiated lessons across the Early Years curriculum in line with the School’s schemes of work.

· Ensure curriculum covers all areas of learning, identify assessment opportunities and consider the children’s interests and EAL

· Promote a balance of indoors and outdoors activities and child-initiated and adult-led learning

· Encourage children to become independent and inquisitive learners through activities based on purposeful play, exploration and problem solving

· Monitor observations of pupil learning and their application in the planning and teaching process

· Provide stimulating and well-presented learning environments in the Nursery classroom and corridors

Marketing/Admissions

· Lead Admissions process to ensure a first class service is delivered to parents considering the nursery for their child/children

· At all times, being pro-active in managing the portfolio of enquiries to maximise admissions and contribute to nursery school targets.

· Act on all enquiries in a timely manner. Organise and host visits and tours to potential parents and children, tailoring to the needs of the child and follow-up after each visit or tour

· Arrange ‘settling in’ days and inductions for prospective children and arrange follow-ups with parents afterwards

· Arranging offer letters and follow-up of offers in a timely manner

· Working with Admissions to identify gaps for nursery marketing campaigns and activity

· Seeking references (if appropriate) so offers may be confirmed.

· Recording all actions for every stage of the admissions process including conversations and comments to allow effective follow-up and reporting

General Requirements

· Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance and conduct

· Maintain positive, courteous relations with pupils, parents and colleagues

· Contribute to the School’s programme of extra-curricular activities where required

· Attend and contribute to all major school events such as Open Days, Music Concerts, Sports Days and Parents’ Evenings

· Promote the brand and reputation of Prenton Prep. School

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
