Our extremely bright, friendly, and somewhat cheeky 6-year-old client is looking for a Support Worker to join his team. F is non-verbal and has complex needs but this doesn’t stop him from enjoying arts & crafts and music and he loves spending time with his younger sibling and family.
The Role/Client:
- F is looking for a Support Worker with a positive outlook on life who will provide care working alongside another member of his growing team.
- F has complex needs including Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, a severe motor disorder, hearing impairment and dystonia. He is a wheelchair user and requires assistance with all activities of daily living including feeding/medication through a PEG and Mickey button. He has high-frequency hearing loss in both ears and wears hearing aids. F is non-verbal and will let you know his likes and dislikes through his facial expressions. He is using PECS and Eye Gaze to support his communication.
- The role will involve supporting F with his personal care, washing and dressing, meal preparation of his blended diet, facilitating hobbies, play and any rehabilitation support as directed by the MDT to progress in his longer-term goals of accessing the community.
- You will support our client at both his home and school during term time.
- Full training in all aspects of our client’s care will be given and you will be fully supported by his Case Manager.
About You:
- You will have a minimum of 1-year of complex care experience with children which you may have gained in a Carer or Support Worker role or as a Teaching or Learning Support Assistant in a school or through personal experience.
- A driver who is able to drive our client’s automatic adapted vehicle is preferred, however, this is not essential so please do apply even if you are not a driver.
- You will provide a supportive, engaging and child-centered approach to our client by following his care plan and helping him achieve his educational, developmental and rehabilitation goals, whilst helping him gain confidence along the way. You will also assist with the planning of daily activities in line with these goals.
- You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client and family.
Pay:
- £16 per hour on Weekdays.
- £18 per hour Weekends.
- £24 Bank Holidays (weekdays) £27 Bank Holidays (weekends).
Hours / Shifts available:
24 hours per week - to be worked as 2 x 12-hour shifts of 8:00 am to 8.00 pm, shift pattern as follows:
- Week 1: Friday, Saturday.
- Week 2: Friday, Saturday.
- Week 3: Saturday, Sunday.
- Week 4: Friday, Saturday..
Optional Sunday shift is also available - 12 hours 08:00 am to 08:00 pm.
