Job Title: Support Worker, LGBTQ Supported Housing Services
Department: Support and Projects
Location: Greater London
Reporting to: Support Services Manager
Responsible for: Younger Person’s Visiting Support Team
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
· Provide effective person-centred support to LGBTQ people living in the company’s specialist LGBTQ supported housing.
· Support clients to achieve tangible progress in areas such as tenancy management, independent living skills and training/education.
· Support LGBTQ clients to develop greater self-esteem and self-confidence. Equip clients for independent living and move-on to more independent accommodation.
· Develop support plans with individual clients that reflect their ambitions and aspirations with clear actions for achieving these.
· Contribute to risk assessment and safeguarding plans
· Ensure clients settle into their accommodation and become familiar with the local area
· Work closely with the Housing Team to ensure residents are complying with the terms of their occupancy agreements.
· Contribute to client involvement withing the LGBTQ supported housing service.
· Be aware of trauma informed working, particularly with regard to trauma experienced by LGBTQ people
· Ensure clients are linked into appropriate support services and sustain engagement with services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support
· Work with clients to develop SMARTER support plans and risk assessment.
· Be fully aware of safeguarding issues and lead on client risk management within the service.
· Update the client data base to ensure client records are updated within timeframes and they accurately record interventions and demonstrate progress.
· Feed into policies and procedures relating to support and where required consult with stakeholders.
· Support clients to manage their accommodation and provide coaching and assistance in household management and independent living skills.
· Support clients to budget and pay rent and service charges.
2. Team Work
· Attend team meetings and reflective practice sessions and contribute to discussions.
· Work within companys health and safety policies and lone working arrangements.
· Work to team performance targets.
· Support staff by setting clear objectives and holding individual supervisions regularly.
· Be respectful to colleagues and support good communication between all stakeholders.
3. Reviewing Personal Performance and Development Needs
· Review and evaluate own performance to identify strengths and areas for development.
· Undertake development and training opportunities.

· Adhere to companys Policies and Procedures at all times.
· Cover for other members of the team and division as necessary.
· Be proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying and acting upon areas for improvement and development.
· Undertaking, as required, any other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Support Worker
Although we are keeping direct experience/knowledge requirements to a minimum, we do need you to use the application form or covering letter to demonstrate your capabilities, in relation to each point listed under essential requirements in the person specification. Where relevant use your answers to illustrate how your competences have helped you achieve positive results.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Experience
1. A commitment to LGBTQ rights and a keen interest in working with LGBTQ young people.
2. Experience of working in support, supported housing or advice services.
3. Experience of supporting people to develop aspirations and form healthy relationships.
4. Organising a caseload, planning work and successfully completing this to set deadlines.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
5. Knowledge of the issues confronting LGBTQ people and the needs of vulnerable homeless people in general
6. A sound knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessment, particularly with regard to LGBTQ people.
7. Ability to work in a client- centred way and support clients to progress in their lives, including clients who are transitioning.
8. A demonstrable commitment to equality and diversity, including but not limited to the principles of Black Lives Matter, Anti-racism, gender equity and LGBTQI+ rights
9. Able to work with clients to develop outcomes and actions to achieve these
10. Good written skills and the ability to structure written work clearly.
