  • Follow all policies and procedures which are in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of members.
  • Complete various domestic tasks as directed by the Person-In-Charge.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
  • Be a designated Key Worker to named individuals and complete all tasks related to this role including care plan documentation.
  • Contribute ideas to the ongoing development of the Service.
  • Carry out escort duties as required in a safe and professional manner under the guidance of all applicable Risk Assessments.
  • Other duties assigned by the Person-In-Charge.

Personal Development Opportunities

  • Participate in Support and Supervision sessions with the Centre Manager or the designated line manager as required.
  • Speak to the Centre Manager when desired about potential development opportunities.
  • Participate in a system of annual staff appraisals, to identify training and development needs.
  • Attend relevant training courses and in-service training, in consultation with the Centre Manager and subject to budgetary constraints.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • A naturally friendly and caring individual who has a genuine passion for assisting those with a diagnosis of dementia.
  • Awareness of, and an ability to work with, people who exhibit complex, challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively alongside volunteers and staff in a supportive manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present a positive public image for NEDC.
  • A desire to support the ambitions of NEDC.
  • Ability to think creatively to create engaging activities for members.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
