The Data domain is essential to the success of Vodafone UK as this team is accountable for the architecture and design of our Big Data platforms, Data warehousing and Reporting practice.
By applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques, the Big Data team are at the forefront of building a data driven company to better meet customers’ needs and offer them truly personalised services and products and deliver them a great customer experience.
Currently we are looking for a Data Ops engineer to join the Big Data team, who will be responsible for enhancing the reliability, consistency and transparency of our systems that process exponentially growing volumes of data.
What will you be doing?
- Own, manage and improve the end-to-end data lifecycle.
- Collaborate to define and establish the Data Ops implementation roadmap.
- Evangelise best practices in data quality, governance and security to the cross-functional teams of Data Scientists and Data Engineers.
- Define and establish data monitoring through the building of a measurement framework.
- Work with Data Engineers, Data Scientists and DevOps Engineers to maintain data availability and quality of data to our end users.
Who are we looking for?
This role would best suit a self-motivated person who has streamlined data and analytics processes to make them more efficient, providing high-quality data faster through agile methods, data governance or use of automation alongside skills such as:
Experience in the implementation of DevOps concepts and ideas of how these can be applied to data engineering. ( i.e. Infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines)- Streamlining data and analytics processes to make them more efficient, providing high-quality data faster.
- Automated processing of metrics that bring consistency and transparency to data operations.
- Using statistical process control (SPC) to monitor data flows.
- Worked with cloud-based Big Data services and platforms, such as AWS and/or GCP.
- Managing data platforms built on Spark, Hive/Presto.
- Working as part of an Agile team producing frequent and timely deliverables.
