We are a high-growth start-up in the construction technology sector who build hardware and software systems that are used for automating jobs on infrastructure construction sites. Our products are helping to drive construction into the 21st Century through digitalisation and automation. HDS systems improve road construction quality, extend asset life, improve site health & safety, and help to reduce costs in an industry with very tight margins.
Why Are We Hiring?
As a high-growth business, we're always looking for people to come on board as we expand beyond the UK into Ireland and the USA. In particular, we are currently expanding our R&D team to help build a number of cutting-edge integrated hardware and software systems. We need a backend PHP developer to come on board ASAP to help with one particular project, although we expect this person to become an integrated part of the team and move onto other projects after this one has concluded.
What Experience Do We Need?
For this role, we are looking for a backend PHP developer with about 3 -4 years' experience, as well as a computer engineering education or relevant background with curriculums like data structure and algorithms. Must have full life cycle experience on web projects from start to release.
A good GitHub profile will be helpful.
Core Technical Skills
- Good understanding of Linux + PHP stack and Drupal/Symphony
- Good knowledge of modern PHP practise and composer
- Experience with web service, REST API, OAuth and data synchronization
- Experience and understanding of databases and associated query languages (We use PostgreSQL+ PostGIS).
- Understanding of how to design effective data models.
- Understanding of version control with git workflow
- Experience with Amazon Web Services
Nice-to-Have Technical Skills
- Experience with geospatial data (especially GeoJSON) and web map solutions
- Knowledge about computational geometry
- Experience with JavaScript
- Experience with open-source projects
Professional Skills
- Good learning and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of the software development life cycle
- Experience with agile software development approaches
- Can work with others to design solutions to complex cross-stack problems.
- Able to effectively review others code and act on constructive reviews from others.
- Can effectively communicate the work they have done and approaches they have taken with the rest of the team.
- Willing to follow best practice rather than take easy options.
