Data Web Application Engineering Lead
Northampton
As a Barclays Data Web Application Engineering Lead this is an exciting opportunity where you’ll be part of data provisioning activities by developing & enhancing the data web applications, data connectors & APIs to feed into the expected data pipelines in the Risk, Finance, Treasury & Liquidity up/downstream systems. Having a good knowledge of DevOps methodology, you’ll also work with the development community to embrace DevOps, and support & lead the migration of existing in-house applications from On-Premises to AWS.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. • Leading design sessions and provide technical leadership, including technical decisions, technology recommendations, defining standards, leading POCs, and mentoring developers
- Developing and enhancing the web applications using the latest supported Tech-Stack, and creating E-2-E data connectors and flow into Model Execution framework orchestration
- Building data interfaces (web, API, connectors, etc.) to expose the Analytical and Model Ready Data stores for the wider business user community
- Managing and automating various execution steps wherever applicable to reduce the processing & execution time
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to understand the problems, issues with the product & features, and solve the issues as per defined SLAs
- Creating standard practices and procedures for the team developers, document application requirements, technical specifications, use-cases and workflow processes
- Identifying and resolving production and application development problems
- Building effective relationships with multiple groups of colleagues (as your clients) across Finance, Treasury, Liquidity and Credit Risk up to and including Director’s level
• Significant experience in Java, Angular, Spring Boot, Web Data Interface and API Development, with a sound knowledge of design patterns, optimization & API Security
- Hands-on experience building rich user interface using Agular, and large structured and semi structured data stores
- Expertise AWS Cloud Architecture, managing applications to AWS Cloud demonstrating PaaS Services, EC2 Services and ECS, and experience with ETL Data Development on AWS Cloud
- Sound knowledge of key On-premises Hadoop components mainly HDFS, Zookeeper, YARN, HBASE, Hive, Impala, Spark SQL
• General knowledge of Banking Data Domains and portfolios like Barclaycard, Consumer Lending, Home Finance, Business Banking and Current Account products.
- Previous experience within Finance, Treasury, Liquidity and Risk functions is beneficial
- Good understanding of DevOps tools like Jenkins/Team city, Chef and others. AWS certification and DevOps certification will be big plus
- Experience in Test/Behaviour Driven Development (including test automation and mocking

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
