Primary Purpose: The Content Specialist’s primary responsibility is supporting the company's product content management strategy. This includes managing operational data and the company’s classification taxonomies, presentation hierarchies, and data standards. The Content Specialist may support content models, metadata schemas, and syndication methods, or they may be responsible for setting up new products and maintaining the interface between operational systems and the product information management system. This role supports the supply chain process for all product requirements from ERP to content acquisition to content management to multichannel publishing and electronic syndication.
Major Responsibilities:
- Independently manage relationships with internal teams, contractors, and external suppliers to obtain accurate content in a timely manner for both new and updated content.
- Ensure data integrity for new and existing products.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested and interpret data to meet the specific needs of stakeholders or functional groups within the company.
- Take the lead in ensuring the highest possible data quality for the company: audit data for compliance against standards, identify inconsistencies and their impact, and gather data from approved sites and suppliers to fill in gaps. Maintain a high level of data integrity and take appropriate action to investigate potential data discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in the development and management of product taxonomy, supporting taxonomy, content, knowledge, document management, and content development projects.
- Support the research and maintenance of publication or syndication-based hierarchies based upon changing business and market requirements to support general or vertical market segments by leveraging user, market and analytic data along with the hierarchies in conjunction with navigation systems, search mechanisms, search engine optimization, print publishing, and interactive rich media applications.
- Assist in the content acquisition workflow process from education, training, and interaction with our software applications through final approval of the content asset into the content management system.
- Ensure product content and associated binaries are kept up to date. Utilize web-based annotation software for catalog page review, reviewing and making determinations on page edits. Update content management database based on compiled edits.
- Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with suppliers. Work to understand the suppliers’ value proposition, product offering, and high-level business and marketing strategies and serve as an internal advocate for the supplier wherever possible. Provide professional and positive problem-solving skills to resolve any supplier conflicts.
- Anticipate and escalate any risks or issues that could impair successful project delivery.
- Support the team’s involvement in the output and quality assurance of published catalog pages and website content.
- Manage multiple projects and multiple timelines and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Exercise discretion in managing company proprietary information
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum 1 year of related business experience, with a solid understanding of business issues and data challenges.
- Customer-facing experience in sales, customer service, technical support or related area preferred.
- Advertising agency or in-house marketing experience preferred.
