Job description

MARC is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Head Start Data Specialist. This person is a member of the Quality Improvement Team and will be responsible for the implementation of systems for planning, recordkeeping, reporting, and monitoring of all aspects of the MARC Head Start program. The Head Start Data Specialist is responsible for working in collaboration with MARC Head Start Data & Evaluation Coordinator, Health Coordinator and Quality Assurance Coordinators to implement a system of data entry and data review to track Head Start health and human resource requirements for Head Start Direct Service Provider sites.

About this Position

The Head Start Data Specialist reviews children’s health documents submitted by direct service providers to identify pertinent information to use in meeting the requirements of the Head Start Program Performance Standards. They also work in collaboration with the Head Start Data & Evaluation Coordinator, Quality Assurance Coordinators, and members of the Head Start health team to ensure all data entry is accurate and any necessary revisions are made.

What you’ll do

  • Enter health and HR data into the ChildPlus database
  • Effectively communicate via electronic and verbal modes
  • Review and analyze health and human resources documents
  • Run and analyze reports to identify needs and support program planning
  • In collaboration with the quality improvement team, use available data programs to develop reports for a variety of stakeholders
  • Implement system for receiving, organizing, and storing documents
  • In collaboration with the quality improvement team and health team, monitor and ensure the accuracy of program data to be used in the agency-wide Program Information Report (PIR).
  • In collaboration with the quality improvement team and health, review ChildPlus data entry procedures and update, as necessary.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the Head Start Program Performance Standards-related regulations

Basic requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma / GED. Post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Minimum of five years of successful work experience. Experience in a Head Start Program is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with computers, including hands-on experience with Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Experience using and generating reports from ChildPlus is highly preferred.

  • Occasional need to lift typical office items, including small furniture, some equipment, boxes, etc.
  • May be required to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Travel by car, bus, airplane or train may also be required associated with attendance at conferences, meetings and other duties carried out at distant locations in and out of state and in some cases where some overnight travel may be required.
  • Noise level in work environment may be moderate to loud.
  • Must be available, as requested, for a variety of evening and weekend meetings as well as social and community events.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary for this position is from $41,699 to $46,645 per year, depending upon qualifications. MARC offers an attractive team-oriented work environment along with a competitive fringe benefit package. MARC offers employees the flexibility to work remotely for us to two days per work week.
