This role is responsible for developing data science techniques to enhance HSBC’s fraud detection capability, with particular focus on the identification of mules.
The role will have an entity reporting line into Fraud Management and a Functional Line into Strategic Fraud Analytics.
The Strategic Fraud Analytics team sits within this Centre of Excellence and plays a major role in combating fraud, with a focus on putting data science capabilities at the centre of HSBC’s fraud strategies. The team develop counter-fraud solutions across both WPB and CMB and are involved in the identification, formulation and implementation of analytical processes to protect HSBC and its customers against financial crime.
In this role, your responsibilities will be to:
- Lead the analytics wok stream to develop data-science led strategies to support the identification of mules.
- Develop, test and maintain sophisticated mathematical and machine learning models to predict future scenarios and customer behavior.
- Research, develop and test novel AI/ML model solutions to business problems
- Drive and own the development of fraud detection models across all stages of the model lifecycle in line with the guidelines set out in the Group Model Risk Policy (GMRP), Group Model Risk Standards (GMRS) and the Model Category Standards (MCS).
- Provide general analytics support and expertise across the fraud community, including supporting the decisioning teams in their BAU initiatives to suppress Fraud losses.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Strong background in Mathematics and Statistics.
- Experience in using cloud-based analytics tools (e.g. Python, Big Query).
- A relevant first numerate degree in either mathematics, statistics, computer science (or equivalent quantitative area).
- Proven experience in using advanced analytics and machine learning to solve large complex problems
- Proven ability to drive rapid insights from available data to drive business forward.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, inter-personal and communication skill
The base location for this role can be either Birmingham, Sheffield or London.
