Hybrid working from our London HQ with Everyday Flex
Join our team and help to use data science to re-imagine the UK's property market. You will have the opportunity to develop machine learning models to assist different teams at Zoopla: Product, Marketing and Commercial. We work with big and varied datasets (3 million new property listings per year, 21 million application leads per year, listing images, geographic data, surveyor reports,18 million online monthly unique viewers) with modern tools (Python, Spark, AWS), to create rich consumer insights and personalised recommendations.
We are looking for an outstanding data scientist with demonstrable experience in machine learning, as well as the ability to take a scientific approach to decision making and strong business acumen to support our consumers and estate agents.
You will be working alongside other Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers and Data Analysts. You should have a proven record of working with large datasets to develop production-ready machine learning models. A confident communicator, with a natural affinity for numbers and a passion for building a great business, will absolutely thrive in this role.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver impactful results through ML models and using advanced statistical techniques
- Working with large and complex datasets to reimagine the property industry
- Collaborate with product managers, UX and product designers and senior business stakeholders to support and drive real business change
- Proactively explore data to identify opportunities to improve consumer and customer experience to drive revenue
- Help the business understand how data science projects influence the companies success
Essential skills
- An advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative discipline
- At least two years’ experience applying data science to business/real world applications
- Highly proficient in Python and its associated libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and/or PyTorch/Tensorflow
- Experience using Machine Learning algorithms in production (Regression algorithms, Decision Trees, Gradient Boosting algorithms, etc.)
- Familiar with working with NLP, Computer Vision or Recommender Systems (just one area is enough!)
- Adept at using version control and deploying code using tools like Docker
- Experience working with AWS or a similar cloud technology
- Effectively manage your time, including the planning and management of project tasks; ability to plan resources to finish projects in a timely manner
- Confident communicator, capable of building strong, supportive relationships and making data intelligible to all departments
- Team player who cares about accelerating not only Zoopla’s technical capabilities, but also empowering colleagues
