Do you have a science or engineering background and have an interest in utilising data to improve process and procedures? If so, and you can present your findings in a clear and concise manner then we have the perfect role for you as a Data Scientist!
The opportunity
As a Data Scientist you will use scientific data and principles to help optimise our water recycling centres focusing on improving process resilience and reduce failures or pollutions.
This role will see you working collaboratively across all water recycling teams within the Wessex Water region. You will work with these teams to ensure data is utilised in the best way to improve our compliance, resilience, and effectiveness, using scientific principles and evidence to help inform decisions, learn lessons, and develop solutions.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with Water Recycling teams to optimise our sites for both performance and compliance.
- Utilise our sampling and site data, combined with site observations to improve our understanding and make proactive interventions.
- Collate lessons learnt across water recycling and other teams and ensure the improvements are implemented.
- Develop systems, processes, and procedures to enhance the monitoring and optimisation of water recycling sites.
What do I need?
To thrive in this role, you will have the ability to think outside of the box and challenge conventional thinking. You will have a science or engineering background with an analytical approach to solving problems.
In addition, we are looking for:
- HNC or equivalent.
- Good data science background.
- Sound communication skills including report writing.
- Computer literate.
- Experience planning projects.
It would be a benefit if you understand sewage treatment technologies and processes and have experience working within regulatory constraint, preferably within the water industry.
