What you’ll be doing

We are looking for an analytical Data Scientist to join a team of professionals. Within this role you the Data Scientist will be expected to deliver modelling, analysis and algorithms to solve business and real-world industry problems including leakage and water efficiency, primarily using hourly smart metering data to generate predictive models.

You’ll work closely with other business leads to understand their challenges and needs, you’ll subsequently lead a range of data science opportunities to generate business insight and then work with our product teams and engineers to scale out results into the hands of our staff.

As the Data Scientist in this position, you will be the technical lead to junior analysts and work as part of a team to improve the team technical knowledge, skills and capabilities.

This position will involve:

  • Communicating insight and regularly interacting with stakeholders and managing these stakeholders to ensure delivery needs are understood and met
  • Application of your problem-solving and creative thinking abilities and supporting the technical development of the consumption services and insight team
  • Delivering and evaluating Data Science algorithms and machine learning pipelines
  • Automating data analysis and advising on mathematical approaches for problem-solving
  • Contributing to product development, support and maintaining data science products
  • Leading and delivering multiple projects to time and quality expectations
  • Providing direction and support to data engineers and analysts for the data flows and environments requirements necessary to deliver key insight

What you should bring to the role

The required Data Scientist for this position will degree qualified within a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, physics, or computer science. A postgraduate degree in a similar field is an advantage

This position will require:

  • Resilience and the ability to build credibility quickly
  • Strong mathematical and statistical analysis knowledge and skills
  • To be a competent and advanced programmer in Python and SQL
  • To fully understand machine learning methods and have experience in their application
  • Strong data engineering knowledge and skills and Agile certification
  • To have knowledge and experience of the Azure platform and Databricks
