This role will support that journey by working within the Data Science team to build efficient productionised Data and ML pipelines, to support the business in data lead decision making.

We are looking for a hands-on expert to build, automate and maintain the data resource for Data Science and across the wider Customer Insight team.

We currently need a skilled Data Scientist to join our rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing statistical models and algorithms to extract insights from large data sets and effectively communicate these findings to stakeholders. You will play a central role in analysing extensive data, formulating innovative models, and producing actionable recommendations to shape our business strategies.

This is a transformative time at RS Group, with numerous large-scale data projects underway that will dramatically enhance our customer data access. You will leverage this data to inform decisions, develop models, and maximize customer engagement through personalized communications. What you will be doing:


  • Utilize your expertise in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from complex datasets.
  • Identifying and applying appropriate analytical techniques in building predictive and prescriptive models
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project goals, develop data-driven solutions, and drive impactful outcomes.
  • Design and implement advanced algorithms and predictive models to optimize business performance and enhance decision-making processes.
  • Work with Data Engineers to explore, cleanse, and transform data from various sources, to derive suitable features for models.
  • Communicate complex findings in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What we are looking for from you:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Understanding of and expertise in Python, including writing unit tests, building packages, and writing reusable/maintainable code
  • Experience building standard supervised (GLM, ensemble techniques) and unsupervised (clustering) models in prior professional roles, and an understanding of standard industry libraries (pandas, sklearn, keras etc)
  • Solid experience in applying statistical modelling, machine learning, and data mining techniques.
  • Expertise in working with large datasets and utilizing data visualization tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
