The opportunity
The Global Market Management Team (GMM) is continuing investment in data and analytics enabling the business to leverage Technology, Data and Analytics. Data Science is still new in the world of commercial insurance, which means there is tremendous value in disrupting the market across diverse opportunities. The focus of the role will be to work collaboratively between the wider team, business stakeholders in the maintenance and development of the existing analytical models as well as future development of new models.
Your new role
  • Identify and propose development of new data science solutions to aid the business in decision making process
  • Work with analytics partners to build and put models into production, quantify and analyse model performance; guide and oversee model refreshing requirements
  • Maintain and improve existing analytical models
  • Resolve technical disputes and be watchful of technical decisions that have long-term consequences.
  • Assist with planning of roadmaps, communications, training, transition etc.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • Acts as a point of reference to guide and advise others to ensure the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
About you
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the technical subject matter. Previous experience as data scientist/engineer highly desirable.
  • Experience in R mandatory, as existing models are written in R.
  • Salesforce knowledge is a plus but not required (as this is the CRM the models are deployed to our business users).
  • Knowledge of Insurance industry is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of the data analytics build process and time frames.
