Job description

Company overview

?

We are recognised by the water industry regulator, Ofwat, as one of the most efficient water and sewerage companies in England and Wales.

Job purpose

Joining us within our energy team, we identify energy savings by monitoring and targeting assets, primarily wastewater mechanical assets. This work has been very successful and the team has recently started to expand their work into new areas. This project will continue to integrate new information/data that already exists, eg, the analysis of asset performance for our water production functions to help inform a maintenance and replacement scheme.

You will have the opportunity to get involved with:

  • working on site dashboards, using monitoring and targeting systems to provide relevant and actionable information to our site staff allowing them to understand site performance and take appropriate action
  • assisting the assessment of opportunities for savings in the water supply business to maximise potential benefits, looking at the most efficient way of using existing assets using benchmarks and analysis
  • exploring new ways of driving both operational and efficiency savings through the projects you develop
  • working on pollution avoidance with the asset reliability team
  • site visits and investigations to help develop your knowledge of wastewater systems.

This role will see you travelling across the picturesque Wessex Water region which covers Bristol, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridgwater and everything in between.

What do I need?

To be successful you will be studying a science, environmental, engineering or maths-based subject, ideally Chemical or Electrical Engineering. You will enjoy working flexibly and looking for a role where you can make a difference.

In addition, you will have:

  • experience using data science techniques to further enhance the use or usefulness of datasets
  • the ability to work with large volumes of data and information in various formats
  • The ability to produce reports and communicate with a variety of operational and managerial staff alike.

Due to the nature of this role, you will need to hold a valid driving licence and have access to your own vehicle. Milage will be reimbursed.

Interview

You will be required to attend an interview before receiving an offer. The purpose of this interview will be to get to know you while determining a rough plan for your placement year.

?

At interview you will be given an overview of the company and the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The initial interview will last approximately one hour; you may be called for a further interview.

Benefits for you?

  • Pension – up to 20% combined contribution
  • 25 days’ holiday rising to 28 with length of service
  • Opportunity to buy and sell up to five days’ holiday
