We have an excellent opportunity for a Data Science Intern, to work with the ICT, Data and Analytics section within the Strategy, Portfolio, Partnerships and Digital (SPPD) Division.
The Strategy, Portfolio, Partnerships and Digital (SPPD) Division is part of the Secretary-General’s Office. It has a four-fold role: it supports the Secretary-General in devising strategies, policies and innovative institutional mechanisms and practices to implement the Secretariat’s programme of work as mandated by member governments; it puts together the Strategic and Delivery Plans and ensures programme quality and coherence through monitoring, evaluation, learning and organisational reporting; it leads on developing international and Commonwealth partnerships and leads on the implementation of the Secretariat’s ICT and Digital Strategy.
The Secretariat is steadily building its data capabilities and is implementing a data governance framework. The internship will enable the successful candidate to participate in and learn from the ongoing data initiatives.
The successful candidates will be required to (please refer to the Job Description for a more exhaustive list):
Identifying and Collating Datasets relevant to the activities of the secretariat
Creating and applying Advanced data analytics models using statistical and machine learning techniques
Processing, cleansing, and verifying the quality of data used for analysis
Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking performance of automated data pipelines.
Working with IT Specialists to present Analytics and Visualisations on Various platforms
Participate in writing of articles on ongoing data work
To be considered, you must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years and undertaking a postgraduate degree in Data Science or related subject. The successful candidate will have at least one years’ experience working on a Data Science project from concept to execution.
