Job description
Data Science Graduate Programme
Here at Admiral, data & analytics are at the heart of everything we do. They are how we achieve our goals of helping more people to look after their future and evolve our business into one that is even more agile and technology driven.
As we grow, data science is increasingly important in how we create more opportunities to provide people with access to great financial services products and accelerate the growth of our business. Above all else, we are a company that continues to put the customer at the forefront and seeks to leverage even more data and advanced analytics to improve their experience.
If you’re a STEM graduate with a passion for data, people and problem-solving, our Access to Data Science Graduate Programme is the perfect opportunity for you to kick start your career in data science and analytics. You’ll benefit from hands-on, practical placements supported by industry leaders (many of whom joined Admiral as graduates fresh from university).
This two-year programme is designed to give you a strong foundation in data analysis before you progress to a data science team that designs and implements data-driven solutions to complex business problems.
We’re looking for logical, mathematically minded people with an analytical way of thinking developed through a degree such as Maths, Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or similar. We firmly believe that the transferable skills developed in your degree put you in a strong position to learn to model and manipulate data to solve business problems across Admiral. We don’t expect any previous financial services knowledge or industry experience as you’ll learn this on the job.
What you can expect
- Starting salary: £24,150

- Location: Hybrid, with 1-2 days per week in our Cardiff offices. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.
- Working hours – 37.5 per week, flexible. For this role we are open to discussing the possibility of reduced hours, remote working, flexible start and finish times, or compressed hours
- A structured, two-year programme that gives you a foundation in data analysis before you progress to a data science team with comprehensive learning throughout. (Please note we cannot accept applications without work permit in the UK for the whole duration of the programme)
- The opportunity to develop general professional skills as well as your technical skills (more detail below)
- To drive your own performance and learning – you’ll receive support from your line manager, buddy, mentor and our Early Careers team, but the programme will be challenging and you’ll be expected to drive your own development
- A five-week induction introducing you to our business, culture and data community
- The chance to get involved in exciting projects and developments outside of your placements
