Data Science Analyst – eCommerce
About the role:
The eCommerce Data Science team provides insight & decision support for Asda.com and George.com, two of the largest ecommerce websites in the UK. We develop and maintain a suite of end-to-end solutions that provide analytical tools, reports and dashboards for supporting commercial, operational and customer decision making.
You'll be responsible for helping build additional data solutions that can include creating data transformation pipelines, performing statistical analysis, training machine learning models and building dashboard/reports as necessary. The role will also involve maintaining and improving our existing suite while supporting the wider team with ad-hoc data analysis requests but you'll be encouraged to try advanced methodologies that might improve our existing solutions. Our work is set to be accelerated by a multi-million-pound investment in our technology platform ensuring you'll have access to best-in-class tools.
The role would suit someone with a data analysis or BI background who is looking for more exposure to data science or someone with a data science skill set who is looking to apply this in a commercial environment.
What you'll work on:
- Develop new data science and analytical tools, BI dashboards and reports from multiple large datasets using a range of data manipulation & analytical methods to drive business performance
- Maintain and improve existing suite of end-to-end solutions including support with migrating legacy solutions onto our cloud platform
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis as required by the business
- Work with stakeholders across the business to identify & advise where data science & analytics can be used to improve the business
Who You are:
- Someone who is highly analytical, evidence driven and with a grounding in maths/statistics
- Someone who is passionate about working with data and finding ways to use it to improve the business
- A believer in continual improvement both for your own development and that of the business
What you'll need:
Essential:
- Experience in Data Science, Data Analysis or a related role
- SQL & Python fundamentals
- Experience in blending & manipulating data using code or codeless platforms (we currently use Python and Alteryx)
- Experience with visualisation software (preferably Tableau or PowerBI)
- Exposure to machine learning either in a commercial environment, through study or personal projects (i.e. Kaggle)
Nice to Have:
- Advanced knowledge of machine learning algorithms, in particular Linear Regression, Random Forest & gradient boosted frameworks (XGBoost, Catboost, LightGBM)
- Experience of using a cloud platform (preferably Microsoft Azure)
- Experience working within ecommerce & using a web analytics platform such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics
