Job Introduction

We are searching for a Data Quality Analyst, reporting to the Data Quality Manager, who will be an integral member of Reach’s Data Team. The prime purpose is to ensure data quality meets a high standard across the Data Lake and Data Platform domains used for reporting, productization, customer insights and email marketing automation. The core focus being in the integrations and ingestion of data sources since this is where the data first enters into the Data Lake/Platform.

This is a great opportunity to join a newly created team and one which will help shape Data Quality from the ground up.

So, who are we?

We are Reach Plc, you might not have heard of us but we have probably met without you even realising it. We are home to the UK and Ireland’s most iconic digital platforms, magazines and newspapers. From the Mirror, Daily Express and OK!, to our regional titles such as the Liverpool Echo, BirminghamLive and the Manchester Evening News (plus lots more), our brands and the stories we cover are as varied as our people. We help all kinds of people share experiences through our stories because we believe this is what makes us human.

Oh, and we should probably also mention that with a monthly readership of 47 million people, Reach is the largest commercial publisher in the UK. At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.

Key Responsibilities

Key focus for the role will be to interrogate and analyse data which is integrated/ingested into the Data Lake. You will help to identify patterns of good quality vs low quality in the data, and define quality standards and related metrics. Importantly, you will implement automation of data quality measurement and assessment.

Additional areas of responsibility include:

  • Forming, documenting and implementing baseline data quality standards and checks for data ingested into the Data Lake and data transformations in the data platform (including analytics and reporting domain)
  • Forming/enabling data quality frameworks including core and fundamental measures, metrics, data quality rules as well as those relative to downstream reporting usage, thus ensuring data is fit for purpose
  • Provide the Product Managers/Business Analysts/Head of Analytics with recommendations of thresholds for data quality

Role location

This is a fully remote role within the UK.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience within Data Quality is not essential, instead you will be able to demonstrate advanced SQL skills and experience with deployment of automation of data quality measurements and metrics, preferably within the AWS ecosystem.

You will be someone who is naturally inquisitive, logical and comfortable working within an ‘idea-oriented’ team culture.

We are also interested in candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to work effectively remotely, with excellent remote management and communication skills
  • Experience creating data quality standards, metrics frameworks, influencing the use of data quality standards into data engineering processes, ETL and data transformations, retrospectively and by design
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues across various teams
