Role Purpose
The Data Protection Officer will be the subject matter expert for Menzies Aviation on all data protection and privacy laws throughout all of the jurisdictions within which the organisation operates. This business critical position will lead on our data and compliance strategy in relation to all aspects of Data Protection Legislation. This position requires the knowledge, skills, and experience to plan, deliver and implement a comprehensive data protection framework.
This position can be based in our Bloomsbury Square HQ, London or flexibly across Europe.
Main Accountabilities
- Tracking the lifecycle of personal data within Menzies Aviation and the risks associated with processing this information
- Understanding how laws such as GDPR interface with other privacy laws which the Menzies Aviation adhere to
- Creation and implementation of data protection and privacy policies and procedures for our organisation
- Monitoring and auditing of systems, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy policies, procedures, laws and regulations
- Reporting to the ‘Chief Governance and Sustainability Officer & Company Secretary' with regard to monitoring and identification of risks and issues, plus legal updates relating to data protection and privacy
- Provision of advice, instructions, and assistance on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)

Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience within data protection
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR and alternative national/international data protection laws
- Understanding of the processing of data within the Aviation industry would be advantageous
- A formal data protection and/or privacy qualification or relevant experience in compliance, risk, audit or legal environment
- Enthusiasm for data protection and privacy matters
