Your role at a glance
In this role, you will play an important role in the delivery and maintenance of a compliant and robust data protection operating model.
You will be responsible for ensuring L&G’s Data Privacy and Protection Policies and Operating Standards are understood and implemented across L&G.
You will be able to link the wider data governance model to each business unit and champion compliance.
This business support role combines knowledge of both policy and local processing; to support change, maintain governance, provide performance measures and support learning.
What you'll be doing
- Ensuring compliance with Data Privacy and Protection Policies and Operating Standards across L&G, including:
- Ensuring appropriate processes are in place to respond to individual rights requests, such as Subject Access Requests (SARs) within regulatory timeframes.
- Ensuring appropriate processes are in place so that PII data falling outside the Group’s data retention criteria is deleted or obfuscated.
- Having influence on required policy updates and change via the Group Data Protection Officer (e.g. Privacy Policy Deployment Policy, Group Consumer Privacy Policy) where required change is identified. Provide Subject Matter Expertise on:
- Local business processing and systems.
- The content and application of the data governance framework (including GDPR and Data Classification)
- L&G and Group-wide policies, where applicable
- All projects across L&G, as appropriate
- Actioning policy compliance control checks
- Providing ongoing training and support to embed policy compliance.
- Liaising with IT Security when appropriate to data governance activity supporting internal communications across the business.
- Carrying out root cause analysis on data breaches ensuring all required mitigating actions are identified and completed. Taking joint responsibility with the respective business teams to drive down breaches. Using judgement to escalate to the DPO where appropriate and have input and influence into the outcome. Ensuring all breaches are reported within mandated timeframes.
- Producing regular MI for Senior Management and report via the Governance Structure. Submit proposals to adjust the appropriate Risk Appetite Thresholds.
- Providing support and oversight in the delivery of the Data Governance Framework
- Engaging the operational teams, supporting SMEs in the completion of DPIAs to achieve the scheduling, delivery and response to DPIAs within the business unit(s) they represent.
- Responsible for the production of all GDPR related MI within the scope of the support function.
- Provision of training in support of the Data Governance Framework
What we're looking for
- Previous experience within GDPR or Data Protection is essential
- Experience in building MI dashboards (SQL, Power BI)
- Excellent understanding of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience of record capture, maintenance and performance reporting
- High organisational skills
