Job Description
The successful Data Modeller, will be responsible for:
Data Modelling
- Creating new improved data models which meet the requirements of the business, both functional and non-functional; are accurate and provide one version of the truth;use approved reference data; use the correct naming conventions; are designed for security; and are designed for performance
- Cleansing, transforming and enriching data
Data Analysis
- Delivery of data analysis and artefact design such as logical data models, data lineage mapping, data definitions
- Performing analysis to: assess the quality of data, determine the meaning of data; and provide additional data screening
- Preparing reports based on analysis
Delivering as part of a project team
- Effective and pro-active management of issues and risks, actions and dependencies. Ensure appropriate mitigation actions are taken and escalate when required
- Establish and manage effective stakeholder relationships with internal (IT and Business) and external (3rd party) project stakeholders
General
- Work closely with the Data Architect, Data Engineer and Project Managers to help inform Group architectural principles and standards which aid solution selection, delivery and operational support such as:
- IT data road maps
- Mapping of data flows, repositories, and transformations in order to identify current issues and future state options
- Selection of data technologies
- Creation of Group data dictionaries
- The strategic direction for data management, data quality, data security
The Successful Applicant
The successful Data Modeller, will have:
- Experience in Data Management and Data Governance practises
- Experience in: Data modelling, Data mapping, Data standards (for example interoperability, metadata, linked data, unique identifiers, base registries)
- Database structure
- Data Quality tooling
- Business Intelligence / Reporting tools
- Microsoft SQL Databases
- ETL processes
- Business Analysis
- Software Development Lifecycle
- Data Analysis skills including: Programming languages, such as SQL, Python and/or R
Desirable:
- Knowledge of DAMA, DCAM or similar framework
- Housing sector experience
- Knowledge of the HACT UK Housing Data Standards
- GDPR knowledge
- An understanding and effective management of challenges in regulated environments
- Kimball Data Warehousing methodologies
- ER Studio
