As a Commercial Banking, Data Management Vice President, you will join the Digital Platform & Applications Product Management, supporting the Data & Analytics Group to address risks and requirements related to Data Use, Data Storage, Data Quality, Data Protection, Data Retention, and Data Destruction.

The CB Digital Platform Data Management will be responsible for leading transformational efforts and assisting in enhancing the design of the Digital Platform and Applications providing oversight and implementation of the Global Data Risk Management policies for their defined data risks. The Data Management Lead will be responsible for ensuring the end-to-end management of risks from initial design of controls to execution, developing remediation action plans and appropriate oversight of issues.

This role requires an individual who thinks/acts strategically and is able to apply business and technical knowledge to develop controls and solve problems. A successful candidate will be self-driven, able to work under pressure, deliver high quality work, and able to adapt within a changing environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create, communicate, and enforce practices for metadata management, data mapping, data lineage, and data quality and access controls for Commercial Banking
  • This position will partner with CB Platform Data Governance and Architecture to analyze, adopt, and advocate tools, technologies, and best practices for proper management of data assets
  • Proven hands-on expertise in Data Modeling (RDBMS and/or NoSQL), metadata management, data mapping and data lineage
  • Lead and perform current state data assessments and contribute to future state vision
  • Contribute to and implement strategy for data management in private and public cloud, leveraging cloud native tools and techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to create and present instructional materials to a wide variety of audiences (technical and business), ability to develop, maintain and showcase technical curriculums
  • Establish and maintain Data Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) to drive completeness, accuracy and consistency of metadata, data mappings, data lineage, and related artifacts required by Data Governance policy
  • Enable application development teams to manage data independently through common tools, practices, and educational materials
  • This role will work closely with the rest of the CB Platform Data & Analytics Engineering & Architecture team
  • Establish data standards and governance across CB Digital Platform & Applications
  • Manage data as a strategic asset and operationalize data governance, data quality, and controls across the organization
  • Introduce and propagate modern Engineering practices around Data including reusable/configurable data quality and data access controls frameworks
  • Drive consistency, efficiencies, and cost benefits through establishing and continuously improving Data Management practices and standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics or other relevant field
  • 8+ years of Data Management, Business Analysis, Analytics, Risk and Control Management , Product Management experience,
  • 5+ years of Data Design, Data Modeling (RDBMS or NoSQL) and metadata management
  • 3+ years of Data Mapping and Data Lineage (create or analyze)
  • 2+ years of technical leadership in a data and technical environment including Data Engineering, Data Management, ETL, Big Data Hadoop, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience creating and/or presenting technical curriculum across a range of technical and non-technical learners
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile practices
  • Hands on experience with Data Modeling tools - erwin Data Modeler, E/R Studio etc.
  • Hands on experience with Data Catalog/Glossary
  • Hands on experience with Data Mapping and Data Lineage
  • Ability to implement data management capabilities at scale
  • Advanced-level ability expected in all MS Office tools (Excel, Pivot Tables, PowerPoint)
