Nationwide Building Society
Full Time Bournemouth, England 38000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Ref: R00AOR03100
  • Closing Date: 25 September 2023

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Capacity, Planning and Performance team. You’ll be working in our Planning and Forecasting function to design, build, develop and enhance capacity models to support Mortgage Advisors.

In this challenging and rewarding role you will influence decisions that have real impact on the future direction of Mortgage Distribution. Your ability to quickly see trends and issues from data will enable you to deliver key insights that tell a story, ultimately guiding our planning and decision making.

At Nationwide we openly put our 15 million members at the centre of every decision we make as a business. Every role, no matter what it’s doing, is member focused.

In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our members’ money is spent wisely, by helping our senior stakeholders make the right decisions and influencing when recruitment is required.

Your success isn’t based on how long you spend at your desk. You’ll have contracted hours, but we’re always happy to support flexible working wherever we can. That might mean working from home or different Nationwide offices or agreeing a working pattern to help you balance work and life. We will always strive to find a way that works for everyone.

There will be an expectation of regular office visits to connect with your colleagues and bearing in mind business critical need. This will be aligned with your local admin hub.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

The exciting nature of this role means that you will be involved in short, medium, and long term insight; providing planning support for day-to-day, for upcoming projects and for future strategies.

For example, you are likely to be involved in;

  • Providing insight on current performance and future staffing levels for Mortgage Advisors.
  • Attending and facilitating meetings with key stakeholders to provide details of your models and recommendations.
  • Completing and presenting analysis used directly by senior management.
  • Telling the story of the analysis and bringing it to life for the wider business picture.
  • Making recommendations for future business strategy.
  • Matching resource to demand and making sure we have the right people in place to deliver on our promises to our members.

About you

As a minimum requirement you’ll:

  • Be a motivated and committed individual who thrives on problem solving, with proven strong analytical skills to turn data into actionable insight.
  • Be a confident and advanced user of Microsoft Excel (e.g. vlookups, pivot tables and complex formulae), and of Microsoft PowerPoint (as this is used to pull packs together and present information).
  • Have experience of PowerBI, and / or other software used for manipulating data or for analysing large data sets, such as SQL, SAS, IBM SPSS Modeler.
  • Have excellent attention to detail, and possess the confidence to ‘tell the story’ describing the work you have undertaken to key stakeholders.
  • Have the ability to work at pace and react to changing work requests and priorities in a timely manner.

It would be good if you also had:

  • A relevant degree (such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Finance, Economics or other Science Discipline) or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, particularly mortgages.

We’re also interested in who you are as a person. Why? Because our membership is made up of so many different kinds of people, so we want our employees to be just as diverse. We’d love to hear about:

  • Your values, and what makes you who you are
  • How you’d make a difference to our members in this role

We know applying for jobs can sometimes feel like you’re sending an application into a black hole. We review each application individually. So, it’s a good idea to call out your most relevant experience on your application to give yourself the best chance.

The extras you’ll get

There are all sorts of employee benefits available at Nationwide, including:

  • A personal pension – if you put in 7% of your salary, we’ll top up by a further 16%
  • Up to 2 days of paid volunteering a year
  • Life assurance worth 8x your salary
  • A great selection of additional benefits through our salary sacrifice scheme
  • Access to an annual performance related bonus
  • Access to training to help you develop and progress your career
  • Gympass – Access to a range of free and paid options for health and wellness.
  • 25 days holiday, pro rata

Why work at Nationwide

We’re different from other financial service providers. We’re a building society, owned by our members. And for over 130 years, we’ve supported those members to make the most of their money and achieve what they want from life.

That’s reflected in the way we work here at Nationwide. We come together to make sure we’re doing things in the best way possible, both for each other and for our members. If you join us, you’ll be part of that. You’ll be able to help us build something really quite special. And you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference.

On top of that, we always want you to be yourself. To use your skills and experience to make our Society stronger. To feel valued for who you are, not just what you do. Because here at Nationwide, we understand that we can do more together than we ever could alone.

What to do next

Note that if your application is successful you will be asked to complete some online SHL tests prior to an interview.

We respond to everyone, so we will be in contact shortly after the closing date to let you know the outcome of your application.
