Job description
This role will support administrative tasks within the MDFS by entering and updating data within a database system and therefore requires a high level of attention to detail as well as the ability to quickly type a variety of data types (including numbers and patient data) into the data management system. The post holder will update and manage this data to ensure that it remains correct and accessible. This requires excellent typing skills and the ability to process large quantities of data while avoiding entry errors. Additionally, you may provide general administrative support and be responsible for handling paper and computer files and documents. The post holder is required to be highly organised and able to successfully manage their time. A flexible approach is required as well as being able to exercise initiative, work independently and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism and being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.
Be responsible for collecting and inputting high quality, accurate data using the appropriate codes within set timescales.
To be an effective time-manager ensuring projects are prioritised and completed.
Responsibility for arranging MDT clinics, making sure that the clinics are run as efficiently as possible.
Ensure that all MDT clinic activity is entered onto the appropriate data base/IT systems and that any data recorded is accurate and relevant in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Ensure that all trust policies, procedures and guidelines relating to confidentiality and Caldicott Principles are strictly adhered to when handling patient files or discussing patient needs etc.

1. Ensure that all trust policies, procedures and guidelines relating to confidentiality and Caldicott Principles are strictly adhered to when handling patient files or discussing patient needs etc.

1. Ensure that all MDT clinics are closed off at the end of each session, identifying and investigating areas of incomplete information and entering corrected information onto the appropriate IT system/Database to ensure integrity of data.
1. Develop a basic understanding of local, regional audits and national audits, in order to assist in the production of audit reports in line with policies, procedures and standards.
1. Highlight areas of concern to Diabetes Team Lead / MDT members to ensure that concerns are dealt with as efficiently as possible.
1. Maintain confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.
1. Ensure effective liaison with medical and nursing staff, health records, medical secretaries and wider MDT in a manner that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that all MDT clinics are run efficiently and effectively.
